Full Job Description

This post is for a locum consultant in Intensive Care. This is a whole-time 12 month FTC post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated doctor to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary critical care medicine in a multi award winning Critical Care Unit. Southport Hospital is part of the Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals., The appointee is expected to be involved in the department's undergraduate, postgraduate and Nurse Specialist teaching and other appropriate educational activities. The appointee will be actively involved as a Clinical Supervisor but will not be directly responsible for educational supervision at least initially (this is to be reviewed at job planning). The appointee will have a responsibility for the running of their clinical service, integrating this with the department as a whole and ensuring appropriate communication with general practitioners, managers, and hospital committees. The appointee will be responsible for contributing to the achievement of relevant aspects of the Trust's contractual obligations and business plans.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre. Specialist Regional Services We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
