Full Job Description

o To be an active member of the Cancer Centre and help deliver the departmental mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching.

o To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high quality evidence- based Haemato-oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

o Leadership, development and organisation of the services in the charge of the post holder in line with the Trust/Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC). Liaison and communication with the Divisional Director, Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians and the General and Service Managers.

o To provide clinical care for patients within Haemato-oncology, including inpatients and outpatients, providing specialist advice and a referral service for other clinicians in the Trust.

o To be responsible for Clinical Audit activities, which is an essential and regular part of clinical practice.

o To participate in the Trust's clinical governance activities, and to encourage and fosterimprovements in the quality and standards of clinical services.

o To provide clinical leadership in Haemato-oncology within Barts Health NHS Trust.

o To participate in undergraduate teaching of Haemato-oncology.

o To have corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.

This advertised post for a 12-month fixed-term Locum Consultant to join the Haemato-oncology Department at the Barts Cancer Centre, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London. The successful candidate will join the existing multi-disciplinary team in the provision of inpatient and outpatient services to patients with haematological malignancies - with a particular focus on Leukemias.

Barts Health NHS Trust is a provider of an extended network for the care of patients with haematological malignancies and is one of the five Level 3 facilities within the London. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the existing team in providing inpatient and outpatient management for patients with haematological malignancies, including stem cell transplantation and CAR-T, and to participate in the associated teaching programmes.

They will also be expected to participate in professional medical responsibilities and training junior medical staff, as well as to contribute to the clinical research portfolio. The successful candidate will also have to develop relationships within the Trust and other partner hospitals both local and in the referring area., Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain's leading healthcare providers.
