An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dynamic individual to apply for post of Locum Consultant in Acute and General Paediatrician with interest in Nephrology. University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust provides acute and specialist paediatric services for Leicester and the surrounding hospitals in the East Midlands including: Nephrology, Urology, Allergy, Congenital Heart Disease, Endocrinology, ENT, Gastroenterology, Haematology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, NICU, Oncology, Paediatric Surgery, PICU, and Respiratory Medicine. The post offers the opportunity to contribute to a large and well-established paediatric service, supporting both acute general paediatric care and specialist nephrology services within a multidisciplinary team., The post holder will join the Paediatric Consultant team providing secondary and tertiary level paediatric services to children in Leicester. The post holder will be part of the general paediatric team but will have an important role in the Paediatric Nephrology services provided at University Hospitals of Leicester in conjunction with East Midlands East of England and South Yorkshire (EMEESY) renal network based at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. The EMEESY Children's Kidney Network provides specialist nephrology and urology care to children and young people with kidney problems throughout the East Midlands (EM), the East of England (EE) and South Yorkshire (SY), hence EMEESY. Highly specialised care such as dialysis, transplant and renal biopsies are performed in Nottingham to maintain expertise. The post holder will supervise the inpatient care of renal patients with input from the ward team and Consultant of the Week. They will be expected to link with relevant local services such as urology, antenatal counselling, cardiology, PICU as needed. Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training. The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
