Full Job Description
We are looking for a Locum Consultant with a specialist interest, passion, and drive to further develop and deliver our Diabetes and Endocrinology services. We recognise the importance of a rewarding and sustainable job role especially given the high acuity and pressures associated with delivery of Acute Care. This role comes with the opportunity for the successful applicant (should they wish) to spend two sessions to further develop interests in other areas which may include another specialty service or alternatively medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement, clinical leadership or research. Main duties of the job The Locum Consultant will contribute to thedelivery of specialist diabetes services. This may include dedicated involvement in antenatal diabetes care, preconception counselling, and transitional clinics for young people moving into adult services. These areas may sit alongside other specialist clinics but are recognised as key components of a comprehensive and forward-looking diabetes service. In addition, the post offers an opportunity to support emerging service developments. Notably, there are plans to establish an insulin pump service within antenatal care. The successful candidate may be expected to contribute to this initiative, including providing clinical oversight and supporting community teams who may require additional guidance as the service is implemented., The post is offered at 10PAs. - MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent Desirable
- Additional higher degrees relevant to this post
- Other postgraduate qualification e.g. MD, PhD
- Qualified educational supervisor Experience Essential
- Extensive experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology Desirable
- Diabetes Subspecialty and metabolic medicine / weight management.
- Experience of running a pump service.
- Experience in delivering ante-natal care.
- Experience in delivering transitional care., Recognised ability to work within, and provide leadership to, the multidisciplinary team
- Effective communicator
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Flexibility of approach
- Commitment to clinical risk management and implementation of clinical governance
- Effective team leader, Relevant experience in clinical audit
- Relevant experience in research and evidence of publications
- Ability to develop evidence based practice Desirable
