Locum Consultant General Medicine

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedGeneral Medical Consultant (GIM) to provide senior clinical leadership and support to a our busy General Medical Ward on 12/14. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients admitted under general medicine, providing consultant-led care, supporting the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical governance.,

• Providing consultant-level clinical care to patients on the general medical ward.
• Leading ward rounds and overseeing the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients.
• Supporting and supervising resident doctors.
• Working closely with nursing, therapy and wider multidisciplinary teams.
• Contributing to safe and effective discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Participating in clinical governance, teaching and service improvement activities., Undertaking daily consultant-led ward rounds and reviewing patients admitted under General Medicine.
• Assessing, diagnosing and managing a broad range of acute and general medical conditions.
• Developing and reviewing individual patient management and treatment plans.
• Providing senior clinical decision-making and advice to junior doctors and the wider clinical team.
• Supervising, supporting and teaching resident doctors and other healthcare professionals.
• Working collaboratively with nursing, therapy, pharmacy and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensuring appropriate investigations are requested, reviewed and acted upon in a timely manner.
• Coordinating safe and effective discharge planning, including appropriate follow-up and communication with primary and community care services.
• Responding to clinical deterioration and providing appropriate senior medical input when required.
• Participating in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of General Medical services.
• Maintaining accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.
• Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives/carers regarding diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.
• Working in accordance with relevant professional standards, local policies and organisational procedures.
  
  Appropriate specialist registration and relevant experience in General/Internal Medicine.
• Strong clinical and communication skills.
• A commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in supervising and supporting resident doctors.
