Locum Consultant Anaesthetist

Recent investments and developments include:- A brand-new 22-bed state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit- Two new dedicated paediatric theatres- New generation anaesthetic machines and advanced technology- Ongoing Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) programme- A strong quality improvement, teaching and research culture- Excellent GMC trainee survey results and reputation for training excellence- A supportive, inclusive and wellbeing-focused departmental culture, The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive general anaesthetic service and contribute to the ongoing development of anaesthetic services across the Trust.You will:- Deliver high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic care- Participate in the consultant on-call rota- Support teaching and supervision of trainees and medical students- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities- Participate in departmental research programmes- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams- Provide leadership and support service development initiatives- The post offers flexibility to support candidates wishing to develop subspecialty interests including perioperative medicine, paediatric anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and other specialist areas.

The Anaesthesia Department is part of the Integrated Surgery, Cancer, Support Services and Critical Care Directorate. The department provides services across:

- 12-theatre Croydon Elective Centre- Emergency Surgical Centre- Busy maternity unit with approximately 3,000 births annually- Paediatric surgical services- Intensive Care Unit- Surgical Enhanced Care Unit (SECU)- Interventional Radiology- Endoscopy and other remote anaesthetic locations
