Full Job Description
Birmingham City Council is recruiting 20 Local Partnership Officers to strengthen neighbourhood governance, support councillors in their local leadership role, and help deliver community-led improvements across the city. This is a dynamic, outward-facing role. You will work directly with elected members, partners, residents, and local organisations to identify priorities, coordinate neighbourhood activity, and ensure that local issues are addressed collaboratively and effectively. What You'll Be Doing You will play a key role in supporting neighbourhood governance and councillor-led activity, including:
- Developing Ward Priority Lists with councillors, partners, and stakeholders, monitoring progress of these local priorities and helping to deliver them.
- Supporting councillors in their role as local leaders and conveners to help make great local places to live and work.
- Building and maintaining strong local networks to support community-led action.
- Organising, facilitating, and attending ward meetings, including booking venues, preparing agendas, distributing materials, and noting actions.
- Attending evening meetings or events when necessary.
We're looking for people who are proactive, community-minded, and confident working with a wide range of different people. You will bring: - A background in community engagement, partnership working, or public-facing roles.
- An ability to build trust, collaborate, and problem-solve in fast-paced environments, and strong communication and facilitation skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Experience of using digital tools to track, report, and manage progress.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different places.
- Proficiency in English and Mathematics at an equivalent academic level.
- Experience supporting elected members or working within democratic/governance frameworks.
- Understanding of neighbourhood issues such asset-based community development and how to help make communities great places to live and work.
- Experience delivering place-based programmes, ward/area governance, or community development and support work.
