Full Job Description
You'll be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The role involves working with tools such as Plesk and cPanel, automating tasks using Bash or Python, and contributing to system improvements alongside our wider technical team. The ideal candidate will have solid Linux experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative, proactive approach. Experience with cloud platforms and containerisation is advantageous.,
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers and workstations.
- Monitoring system performance and resolving issues to ensure peak reliability and availability.
- Implementing and managing robust security measures against threats and vulnerabilities.
- Managing routine system maintenance-updates, patches, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Administering user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Supporting and enhancing environments using Plesk and cPanel.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable system improvements.
- Providing technical support and guidance to colleagues and end-users.
- Maintaining detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
Proven experience as a Linux Support Engineer or in a similar role. - Deep understanding of Linux OSes including Ubuntu, SUSE, Debian, Alma, Red Hat, and Rocky.
- Proficiency in scripting with Bash, Python, or similar tools.
- Solid knowledge of MySQL (and forks), SSL, and firewall/security best practices.
- Experience managing web hosting platforms such as Plesk and cPanel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and thrive under pressure.
