Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to support a happy and engaging 12-year-old boy who is non-verbal and requires a high level of constant supervision and structured support to remain safe, regulated, and actively engaged in daily life. He thrives on routine and benefits from a calm, patient, and consistent approach. He has a great sense of humour and enjoys learning through play, baking, and meaningful interaction with adults. He loves spending time outdoors, including walks in the local community, trips to the park, and activities such as swimming and trampolining. Although non-verbal, he is an excellent communicator using Makaton sign language, gestures, and his communication device. He is very sociable and enjoys connecting with others. Role Responsibilities:
- Providing constant supervision to ensure his safety and wellbeing
- Supporting communication both at home and in the community
- Assisting in identifying and responding to his emotional and behavioural needs
- Supporting with personal care and mealtimes
- Encouraging engagement in activities and development of independence skills
We are looking for a fun, caring, and motivated individual who can offer a calm and consistent approach. You will play a key role in supporting his day-to-day care and encouraging the development of his personal and social skills. Essential Requirements: - Previous experience working with children with autism and/or severe learning disabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desirable:
- Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle Hours & Pay: This is a part-time position, offering an average of 5 hours every other weekend, plus an additional 5 hours (Monday-Friday) during school holidays. Some flexibility is required to accommodate changes during school holidays; this can be discussed further at interview.
The hourly rate is £13.50, with 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and access to a workplace pension scheme.
