Wokingham, RG40 2BB 31387 to 43869 Pro Rata Contract Part time NEW Activate Learning is looking for a passionate and dedicated Lifeskills Teacher to join our specialist team at our Vocational and Lifeskills Hub in Wokingham. This is an exciting opportunity to support post-16 learners aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), including learners with complex needs, to develop the confidence, independence and skills they need for adulthood. Working within a personalised, therapeutic and vocational learning environment, you will help learners re-engage with education through creative and inclusive teaching that meets their individual needs and aspirations. About the role: As a Lifeskills Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons that promote independence, personal development and progression. You will work closely with colleagues and support staff to create an inclusive environment where every learner can achieve their potential. You will teach across a range of programmes, which may include:
- Preparation for Adulthood
- Programmes for learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
- Functional Skills Maths and English (up to Level 2)
- Employability and vocational skills
- Personal development, wellbeing and independence skills You will play a key role in supporting learners who face barriers to education, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them build the confidence, knowledge and practical skills needed for further learning, employment and independent living.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and/or English.
- Experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities, including those with complex learning needs.
- Experience delivering employability, life skills, personal development or wellbeing programmes.
- The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learner needs.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed.
