Full Job Description
As Library Supervisor, you will play a central role in delivering a high-quality, community-focused service that is at the heart of local life. Working closely with the District Manager, you will help ensure the library runs smoothly, safely and effectively, while also driving new opportunities to engage residents, promote services and enhance the customer experience. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys leading people, building partnerships and contributing to a service that has a meaningful impact every day. This role involves working evenings and weekends onsite as follows, this is subject to change to reflect service need:
- Week 1 + Monday 2 pm - 5 pm + Tuesday 9 am - 5 pm + Thursday 9 am - 5 pm + Friday 9 am - 5 pm
- Week 2 + Monday 2 pm - 5 pm + Tuesday 9 am - 5 pm + Friday 9 am - 5 pm
- Week 3 + Wednesday 9 am - 7 pm + Thursday 9 am - 5 pm + Friday 9 am - 5 pm
- Week 4 + Tuesday 1 pm - 5 pm + Wednesday 9 am - 7 pm + Saturday 9 am - 4 pm This role is advertised as a Library and Centre Onsite Supervisor, although the job description will showing as Wombourne Centre Supervisor. This is to ensure the effective co-ordination and promotion of all facilities within the Wombourne Centre Premises, working with the Community Association and ensuring the centre is fully utilised as a community venue, including liaison with groups and organisations and managing complaints so that the centre meets the needs of the local community.Main Responsibility In this role you'll:
- Help run the library day to day, delivering excellent service and high standards.
- Lead and support staff and volunteers through training and rota planning.
- Build strong customer relationships and connect people to the right services.
- Track performance and support continuous improvement.
- Maintain stock that is relevant, responsive and community-focused.
- Help keep the library safe, welcoming and fit for purpose.
- Champion health and safety through checks, training and audits.
- Work with the Community Association, volunteers and partners to grow the local library and community offer.
- Step into front-line duties to keep services running smoothly.
- Handle income and transactions accurately.
- Oversee events that drive participation, learning and connection.
Whether you have previous experience of supervising and managing a team or are looking to progress into a supervisory role, you will have: - Experience working in a public-facing service environment, with a strong customer-focused approach.
- Proven ability to lead, supervise and motivate teams, including workforce planning, scheduling and delivering training.
- Experience in premises management, including health & safety compliance and operational oversight.
- Strong IT skills, including use of a variety of IT packages, social media and performance data monitoring.
- Financial awareness, including handling cash transactions and supporting income targets.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build partnerships, engage communities and work flexibly across locations. You will be required to adjust your timetable to cover absences of team members, for example, and so this would suit someone with the availability and flexibility to accommodate this.
