Full Job Description
Providing a high standard of customer service with a strong community focus you will help us to deliver a range of services that support the library offers, including the provision of IT support, information and activities for all ages. Activities will include children's rhyme times, craft sessions and book-related events. In a busy library you will help people to access the full range of library resources and will contribute to people's positive experience of using our service. We have 2 roles available: Wombourne Library and Community Centre ( 23hrs per week average) and Perton Library (15hrs 45mins per week average) Wombourne Library and Community centre The fabulous, newly refurbished library in Wombourne re-opened to the public in December and with work currently taking place in the community rooms this is an exciting time to join the team. The role will be based in Wombourne but you will be required to work at other libraries in the district- Perton, Codsall, Cannock and Rugeley. Wombourne library is open 6 days per week Monday- Saturday including evenings. This role involves working onsite as follows, this is subject to change to reflect service need: Week 1 Monday 9.30-1.00, Perton library is a busy library located in the heart of the community and is open 7 days per week, including evenings. The role will be based in Perton but you will be required to work at other libraries in the district- Wombourne, Codsall, Cannock and Rugeley. This role involves working onsite as follows, this is subject to change to reflect service need: Week 1 Thursday 9.00-7.00 Friday 8.45-5.00 Week 2 Thursday 9.00-7.00 Saturday 9.15-4.00Main Responsibility To give you an idea, some of the key things you'll do will include:
- Helping customers find the information and resources they need
- Providing essential digital support to customers using PCs within our libraries or accessing e-services
- Supporting projects and activities for all ages
- Promoting library stock, services and events through social media and outreach events
- Sales and cash handling
- Delivering and supporting events on a weekly basis
- Supporting libraries within the district through flexible working
Whether you have previous library experience, or are looking for a new challenge, you will show: - GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4+) or equivalent, or relevant customer service experience
- Proven experience delivering high-quality service in a public-facing or public service environment
- Understanding of public library services, with experience handling confidential information accurately and securely
- Strong teamwork abilities, with experience using computer systems, data entry, and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage people of all ages, backgrounds, and needs
- Flexibility, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and be able to manage challenging situations while maintaining a positive customer experience
