Full Job Description

The Governing Body of The Rofft School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly skilled Level 4 Teaching Assistant to join our Resourced Provision team for pupils with social communication needs. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs and helping them to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the Resourced Provision Teacher and wider school team to provide high-quality, individualised support that enables pupils to access learning, develop their skills, build confidence and become increasingly independent. They will contribute to the planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities and interventions tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils within the provision. Our Resourced Provision provides a nurturing, inclusive and supportive environment where pupils are valued as individuals and supported according to their specific needs. We are looking for someone who is committed to creating positive learning experiences and who can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally, ensuring they are fully supported to participate in school life and achieve success. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under the direction of the Resourced Provision Teacher to support pupils' individual learning, development and well-being.
  • Provide classroom cover for the Resourced Provision Teacher, including during PPA and management time, ensuring continuity of learning and support.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning programmes for pupils with additional learning needs, both individually and in small groups.
  • Support pupils to access learning, develop communication, social, emotional and independence skills, and participate fully in school life.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, contributing to reviews, Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and discussions regarding pupil outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents & carers, external agencies and other professionals to support pupils' individual needs and promote positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where pupils feel valued, supported and encouraged to succeed.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being and independence, helping pupils develop confidence and resilience.
  • Support the inclusion of pupils within mainstream classes and wider school activities where appropriate.
  • Uphold and promote the school's vision, values and commitment to inclusive education for all learners.
  • In return, we can offer:
  • A welcoming, caring and inclusive school community where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
  • The opportunity to work within a well-established and nurturing Resourced Provision.
  • A dedicated and experienced team of staff committed to achieving the best outcomes for all learners.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic pupils who enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.
  • High-quality professional learning and development opportunities.
  • A supportive leadership team committed to staff wellbeing and continuous improvement.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine and lasting difference to the lives of children and their families.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to fully support the vision, values and inclusive ethos of The Rofft School and play an active role in the continued development of our Resourced Provision and wider school community. They will share our commitment to ensuring that every child is given the opportunity, support and encouragement needed to thrive and reach their full potential.

The Council is committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
