What You'll Do
As a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced fabricators and engineers to learn the skills required to manufacture, assemble, and prepare steel reinforcement products. You will receive structured workplace training while attending Newcastle College as part of your apprenticeship programme.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will build your knowledge and confidence in fabrication processes, engineering principles, quality standards, and safe working practices.
During your apprenticeship, you will learn to:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions
- Measure, mark out, and prepare steel materials for fabrication
- Cut, shape, drill, grind, and finish steel components using hand and power tools
- Operate fabrication machinery and workshop equipment safely and efficiently
- Assemble fabricated steel reinforcement products to customer specifications
- Carry out welding activities under supervision and in line with your training programme
- Perform quality inspections to ensure products meet company and industry standards
- Use measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Follow all health, safety, environmental, and company procedures
- Assist with material handling and stock control activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and operations teams
- Support continuous improvement activities within the workshop
