Full Job Description

  • You will need to bring with you to the interview original documentation to prove your identity and that you have a right to work in the UK
  • You will need to bring with you to the interview original qualification certificates essential to the post.
  • In accordance with KCSIE 2024, an online search of publicly available information will be undertaken on all shortlisted candidates to help identify any incidents or issues, which the school may wish to explore with an applicant at interview.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to certain clearances being in place before they are able to start work, including an enhanced DBS check.

    Edgewood Primary School is looking to appoint a highly skilled Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.
  • This role will be working 1:1 with children with significant special educational needs both in the classroom, at break times and in our specialist provision with other members of staff. The successful candidate will be:
  • Qualified as a teaching assistant
  • Enthusiastic and able to think on their feet to solve problems
  • Be IT literate to input information onto our school information system (after training on this system).
  • Able to keep the child's provision running effectively
  • Be committed to inclusion of the children they work with
  • Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff
  • Able to maintain a positive outlook and cheerful personality
  • Able to adapt planned curriculum to meet needs
  • This is a demanding role and would suit a candidate with experience of roles that have included intensively caring for others (e.g. previous 1:1 support or in other sectors such as caring for the elderly). The successful candidate should also have a clear understanding of supporting children with special educational needs from their TA qualifications or experience in work.
