This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain experience across two of its Birmingham branches, GR Pharmacy on Hillwood Road and Aston Chemist on Shenley Lane, while developing valuable skills within a supportive pharmacy team.
What You'll Do
Typical duties for a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprentice could include:
- Supporting customers and patients at the pharmacy counter.
- Receiving and processing prescriptions.
- Preparing and assembling medicines under supervision.
- Labelling and dispensing prescriptions accurately.
- Ordering, receiving and storing medicines and pharmacy stock.
- Checking stock levels and expiry dates.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised pharmacy environment.
- Using pharmacy computer systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Supporting the wider pharmacy team with day-to-day tasks.
- Following pharmacy procedures, confidentiality requirements and health and safety guidance.
- Developing knowledge of medicines and common health conditions.
- Communicating professionally with patients, customers and healthcare professionals.
Training Outcome
On successful completion of the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship, the apprentice can progress into a permanent Pharmacy Services Assistant role and continue developing their career within pharmacy. They may also have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship, subject to the relevant entry requirements.
