ABOUT YOU You are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in chemistry and a desire to develop your career within a laboratory environment. Ideally educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Chemistry, you have practical experience in analytical techniques such as wet chemistry, spectrophotometry, ion-selective electrodes (ISE), or ion chromatography, along with good IT literacy and confidence using laboratory systems. You are a proactive problem solver, capable of troubleshooting equipment and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance. A full driving licence is essential for occasional off-site sampling duties, and experience in method validation or knowledge of standard job authorisation processes would be advantageous. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive Analytical/Chemical Process team within the aerospace sector, based on-site in Derby. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely chemistry testing, supporting operational processes, and contributing to method validation activities in line with ISO 17025 standards. Working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will gain hands-on experience across a range of analytical techniques while developing your technical expertise. With flexible working hours across Monday to Friday and occasional weekend work, this role offers variety, responsibility, and strong potential for career growth within a dynamic and highly regulated industry. Key activities
- Samples preparation and testing using approved procedures
- Supporting booking in laboratory jobs using local Laboratory Management booking system.
- Processing routine samples in line with SOPs, including Wet Chemistry (titrations), ISE, Spectrophotometry & Ion Chromatography testing.
- Processing samples related to local method validation in accordance with a schedule agreed with the development team and relevant Section Head.
- Ensuring calibration and overcheck standards for the methods used are maintained to an ISO 17025 standard.
- Being able to drive a van and deal with tank sampling duties from different customer sites when the main sampling driver is off work. WHAT WE OFFER Benefits include:
