Are you passionate about sport, fitness, and delivering outstanding customer service? We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Leisure Assistant to join our busy leisure and sports facilities team at Bradfield College and St Andrew's School in Pangbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-quality sports environment, supporting the daily operation of our sports complex, swimming pool, indoor tennis centre and squash courts while helping to create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all users. The Role As a Leisure Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our facilities. Working as part of a duty rota covering the opening hours of the complex, you will help maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include:
- Lifeguarding and ensuring the safety of pool users.
- Preparing and setting up sports equipment and activity spaces.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the facility, including changing rooms, fitness suite, sports hall, dance studio, and indoor tennis centre.
- Providing excellent customer service at reception, handling enquiries, bookings, and telephone calls.
- Assisting with promotional activities.
- Supporting health and safety compliance across the site. About You We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with people and providing excellent customer service.
- Is reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Is physically fit and willing to undertake a varied, hands-on role.
- Has an interest in sport, health, and fitness.
- Is flexible and willing to work 5 shifts in any 7 day period, this will include mornings, evenings, and weekends as part of a rota. Qualifications
- A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (candidates without an NPLQ will be considered and will be expected to obtain the qualification during their probationary period). Desirable Experience
- Previous experience as a Leisure Assistant, Recreation Assistant, or Lifeguard.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
- Experience within the leisure, fitness, or sports industry.
- Coaching qualifications or experience in sport, health, or fitness.
