Full Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Elmbridge to assist with the appointment of a Legal Officer Property and Contracts, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., We are seeking an experienced Legal Officer (Property & Contracts) to join the Legal Services team at Elmbridge Borough Council.,
- Manage a varied caseload of commercial property and contract matters.
- Provide legal advice on; Commercial property transactions, Conveyancing, Estate management, Corporate landholdings, Commercial contracts and Common land and open space matters
- Draft, review and negotiate legal agreements, contracts and property documentation.
- Advise Council departments on legal risks relating to property and contractual matters.
- Support Asset Management and Property Services teams with legal advice.
- Attend committee and sub-committee meetings to provide legal guidance where required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional with strong experience in commercial property law and contracts, ideally within Local Government or a similar in-house legal environment. You will manage your own caseload while providing expert legal advice on property transactions, commercial contracts, estate management, and wider legal matters across the Council., Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with 5+ years' Post Qualification Experience (PQE). - Current Practising Certificate.
- Strong experience in commercial property and contracts within Local Government or a similar legal environment.
- Experience advising senior officers, Members/Councillors or equivalent stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of: Commercial Property Law, Contract Law, Local Government Law, Conveyancing and Estate Management
- Excellent legal drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
