Full Job Description

The successful applicant will assist the Head of Legal with all aspects of the company's legal affairs. The core business is the licensing of audio-visual entertainment, primarily feature films from Filmbank's licensors, Sony, Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, UIP and many others. The legal department work closely with lawyers from these studios. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a key legal role in the film industry.,

  • Supporting the Head of Legal - managing contract negotiation, legal research, day-to-day legal enquiries from internal departments and customers/rights owners/suppliers
  • Supporting the Director of Content and Acquisitions - including legal advice, contract reviews and document management
  • Managing Filmbank's business affairs in Latin America - an expanding market particularly in overland transport, hospitals and universities, where relationships with partner companies, collective management organisations and customers are essential
  • Supporting Sales - including legal advice re customer licence agreements, drafting amendments, renewals
  • Contract management and template updates
  • Supporting Marketing - including legal advice re website issues, social media
  • Assisting with general office legal issues including company policies as well as managing external/overseas legal counsel, in particular in Latin America and Germany

    The legal team support all departments of Filmbankmedia including acquisitions, sales, digital services, finance, employment/HR and business development. The role will therefore require the candidate to be a team player, to have the ability to work efficiently under pressure, on both new projects and day-to-day tasks and to balance the requirements of a variety of stakeholders. Filmbankmedia's business is international, you will be dealing with legal issues across Europe, Asia and Latin America., UK qualified solicitor 0-3 pqe. (Paralegal with appropriate experience will be considered)
  • Experience of drafting and negotiation;
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property law, in particular copyright;
  • Keen interest in movies and the film industry;
  • Business proficient Spanish and/or Portuguese would be very useful
  • Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
