Role Summary


The School of Health and Life Sciences is now seeking to appoint to the post of Lecturer Teaching Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) in Paramedic Practice to contribute to teaching, research, knowledge exchange, enterprise in the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Practice in the School of Health & Life Sciences.


The standard TSPP academic role at the University includes a combination of teaching, scholarly activity, professional practice, knowledge exchange, business engagement and associated administrative activities. While all functions will combine these areas of work, the relative weight of each will vary between and over time for each role holder.


Qualifications and Experience



  • The postholder will be an HCPC Registered Paramedic with post-registration clinical experience in pre-hospital and emergency care.

  • You should hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or demonstrate equivalent professional experience and expertise.

  • You will have demonstrable professional involvement in pre-hospital and emergency care and the ability to contextualise contemporary pre-hospital practice within undergraduate and postgraduate paramedic education.

  • Experience of practice-based education or the supervision of students in practice settings is essential.

  • A genuine commitment to developing your academic and scholarly practice within a Higher Education environment is also required.

  • Applicants must hold, or be willing to achieve, a relevant Teaching Qualification normally within two years of appointment, i.e. PGCLTHE or Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellow/Senior Fellow) accreditation.
