Full Job Description
The School of Social Sciences at UWE, Bristol is seeking to appoint a permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology. The successful applicant will be a HCPC registered Sport Psychologist (or nearing completion of a training pathway, e.g. BPS Stage 2. or CASES SEPAR), with experience in professional practice, teaching and ability to supervise research. Ideally candidates will have the expertise to contribute to and lead one or more MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology Modules, for example, Professional Practice in Sports Psychology, and Contemporary Issues in Sport Psychology, with a commitment to innovative and high-quality teaching.
We are looking to fill this post with Senior Lecturer 0.6FTE (e.g., equivalent to 3 days) or Lecturer 0.7FTE (e.g., 3.5 days per week). The post sits within our collaborative Psychology team in the , delivering a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes accredited by the BPS, HCPC and BACP. Our staff are professional practitioners, academics and researchers, and members of the working at the forefront of their specialist areas. You will be a HCPC registered Sport Psychologist (or nearing completion of a pathway), with expertise in professional practice and/or teaching and learning, primarily contributing to the MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology programme, with scope to extend to the wider Psychology Team.
You will draw on your professional experience to inform and enrich teaching and the student experience. We value reflective practice and the ability to bring the curriculum to life by contextualising core theoretical concepts through real-world sport and exercise settings, helping students connect academic learning with contemporary professional practice. You will foster relational learning environments that reflect the values of psychological practice and bring creativity to your teaching, drawing on emerging developments in sport and exercise psychology to inspire and engage students.
For colleagues transitioning from professional practice, we fund an internal programme of study within the university, including the allocated time within your role, to achieve the PGCert in Higher Education to gain HEA Fellowship (within 2 years of appointment) to support your development as an academic.
