Summary

Do you have experience working in the Public Services and teaching? Are you looking to make a difference through teaching the next generation of public service personnel in the Police Force, Fire & Emergency Services, Armed Forces and others such as HM Prison Service?

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Buckinghamshire College Group for a Public Services lecturer at our Aylesbury and Wycombe campus with the flexibility to work across both sites. We are looking for an experienced public services lecturer or suitable trainee teacher who can inspire students beyond their ambition.

Our public service courses offer students the opportunity to explore all of the public services and the skills required. Subjects are explored in both a practical and theoretical manner and we involve employers in the design and delivery of the curriculum. We are looking for an experienced lecturer who has vocational / professional / academic experience in the public services and potentially has experience and qualifications in sport. We can provide full teacher training and support for a suitable candidate.

The suitable candidate will:

  • Use current professional / academic / vocational experience to deliver aspirational, engaging learning opportunities that motivate student satisfaction
  • Promote high levels of student ambition leading to positive progression and excellent employer satisfaction.
  • Deliver high quality, innovative teaching at all levels.
  • Work closely with other staff and students to overcome barriers for students to ensure they receive the best start in their chosen careers.
  • Have a range of fitness instruction and coaching qualifications
  • Desirably have experience and qualifications in sport

Taking Teaching Further

The College actively engages with the Education & Training Foundation's Taking Teaching Further scheme to recruit industry professionals to teach within Further Education.

As industry professionals offer our students industry experience and insight we support our unqualified teachers to learn 'on the job'. You will be given full support throughout your development to fully qualified teacher status. Whilst in employment you would be enrolled onto the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. After completion you can choose to move be onto our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification. This is a great way for experienced professionals to achieve a recognised teaching qualification whilst in employment.
