Full Job Description

Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified professional to take on the role of Lecturer in Policing. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and assessing high-quality Policing programmes within our further education provision, all tailored to meet the needs of Sport, Law, Policing and Protective Services students. The role also includes programme administrative responsibilities to ensure effective course management. A key focus will be supporting learners in developing employability skills relevant to the industry, promoting independence, and preparing them for progression into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong vocational background within the Police, with proven experience in developing learners' technical and employability skills. They will hold an honours degree (Level 6) or an industry-recognised qualification in a related field, alongside a post-16 teaching qualification or a commitment to achieving this within an agreed timeframe. Level 2 English and maths qualifications are essential, or the candidate must be willing to attain them. A proven track record of delivering and assessing vocational training programmes, with an emphasis on progression and learner success, is also required. Experience in programme leadership within further education is desirable, as is familiarity with current industry practices. Candidates should also have proven success in designing and implementing teaching strategies that support further education students, including those with additional needs or barriers to learning. Strong organisational skills, the ability to self-manage workload, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in IT, including the use of virtual learning environments.
