Full Job Description
The School of Civil, Aerospace and Design Engineering at the University of Bristol seeks to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer who can support and complement our research and educational portfolio in Aerospace Engineering. The School is renowned for delivering both high quality teaching and world-class research, attracting the highest calibre of students and providing an intellectually stimulating environment for academic staff. Your teaching will be on the Aerospace BEng, MEng and MSc degrees, centred around practical activities for first and second year undergraduates. You will join the Bristol Aerospace Centre (BAC), a group of around 40 academics combining cutting-edge fundamental science with strong industrial and international links for exploitation and technology transfer. The Centre's areas of interest include aerodynamics, aeroelasticity/vibration suppression, aeroacoustics, turbulence, aerial robotics, flight dynamics and control, theoretical and applied fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, optimisation, experimental aerodynamics, active and passive flow control, and space engineering. Application areas include fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, UAVs, spacecraft, renewable energy and wind engineering. - You will conduct world leading research in an aspect of aerospace engineering aligned with the Bristol Aerospace Centre
- Applying for funding and supervising research students, supported by our established research team and facilities.
- You will be responsible for devising and delivering undergraduate teaching in electronics and aircraft design, built and test as well as contributing to broader teaching efforts in Aerospace Engineering.
- You will be presenting your research at international conferences in your field and publishing high quality peer-reviewed journal papers.
- You will be building research collaborations, including with industry.
- You will support students through our tutorial system and supervise student projects.
- You will contribute to academic administration within the School and Faculty.
You have a strong background in aerospace engineering or an allied subject, with an ability to teach practical topics, particularly electronics. - Proven track record for excellence in your research area.

- You can create new knowledge through novel and insightful research and understand how to translate research through to application
- You can deliver inspiring teaching across all levels and class sizes of our teaching programme.
- You can maintain a consistent output of published work and funding applications to support your research.
- Your personal research ambition includes the desire to work collaboratively and support the research of other academics in your research group and beyond.
- You enjoy supporting students to learn and are willing to continually develop your teaching skills within a supportive academic community.
- Your hold a first degree and PhD in a subject of relevance to engineering
