Lecturer: Interior Design

As a Lecturer you'll join a forward-thinking and supportive creative community within the School of Architecture, Design & Interiors, working alongside colleagues across architecture, spatial design and related disciplines. The course is evolving rapidly, with an exciting focus on contemporary practice, emerging technologies, sustainable approaches and socially engaged design. You'll play a key role in shaping this development, bringing your own expertise and perspective to teaching while helping students connect creative ideas with rigorous design thinking and professional practice. Our industry-standard workshops, digital fabrication facilities, specialist studios and digital technologies provide an excellent environment for experimentation and making. We're looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking designer and educator with experience of teaching in higher education and/or professional practice in interior architecture, interior design or a closely related discipline. You'll be passionate about helping students develop their own creative voice, while encouraging them to question established approaches and engage critically with the social, cultural, environmental and technological challenges shaping contemporary spatial practice. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Comprehensive and current knowledge of interior architecture and interior design, with an understanding of contemporary approaches to spatial practice, materiality, sustainability and the relationship between people, place and environment.
• Strong design development and communication skills, with the ability to support students in translating conceptual ideas into resolved spatial proposals through appropriate visual, technical and material methods.
• Experience of contemporary digital and/or analogue design processes, including relevant technologies, representation techniques, fabrication or making, and an enthusiasm for emerging approaches to spatial design.
• Evidence of engagement with professional, research or creative practice, demonstrating an active interest in the development of the discipline and the ability to bring relevant contemporary perspectives into teaching.
You'll be comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic team and supporting students with different backgrounds, experiences and levels of confidence. This position is offered on a fixed-term for 12 months, part-time, 21 hours per week basis, in person on our Falmouth campus.
