In this role, you will deliver high-quality learning, teaching and assessment, providing an engaging and supportive experience for learners who are motivated to pursue careers within the sport, fitness and physical activity sector. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced individual, preferably a qualified teacher, to join our well-established and growing Sport department from September 2026. The department delivers a broad and progressive curriculum ranging from Level 1 through to Level 5, including Personal Training apprenticeships and specialist pathways such as Sport Science, Sports Coaching, and our Men's and Women's Football Academy, supported by a committed and experienced team. The successful candidate will primarily deliver across the Sport Studies provision at Levels 1-5, with a particular focus on applied learning, practical performance and underpinning theoretical knowledge. Teaching may include units related to anatomy and physiology, fitness training and programming, coaching practice, sport psychology, performance analysis, research methods and professional practice. The role will also contribute to specialist pathways, including Sport Science, Sports Coaching and Football Academy programmes, supporting talented and aspirational learners in both academic and high-performance environments. The ideal candidate will bring relevant subject knowledge and vocational experience within sport, fitness or physical activity, with the ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners through both practical and classroom-based delivery. A strong commitment to high standards, learner progression, inclusive teaching practice and employer engagement is essential. Experience of coaching, performance sport, academy football, fitness instruction or strength and conditioning would be highly desirable. The ability to contribute to enrichment activities, competitive fixtures, academy training sessions, work placements, employer links and cross-college initiatives will be an important aspect of the role. Halesowen College is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and will undertake an Enhanced DBS check, safer recruitment vetting and online checks for all successful applicants. Candidates who do not currently hold a full teaching qualification will be supported to achieve one as part of the role, alongside access to a comprehensive programme of continuous professional development.
