Full Job Description

An opportunity to join a collaborative team of social work academics, based at the Moulsecoomb campus in Brighton
The University of Brighton Social Work department is seeking a senior lecturer (permanent, full-time) to join the team. Your expertise and experience will contribute to the delivery of high-quality social work education in the School of Humanities and Social Science. The team is particularly looking for a social work academic with experience of course leadership and/or involvement with apprentices. Applicants must be qualified social workers and registered with Social Work England (or eligible to register).
You should be able to draw on foundational social work knowledge and experience as a basis for delivering the core social work curriculum alongside your specialist area across our undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-qualifying programmes. We want someone who will engage with course and module leadership, teaching, assessment, student support and development, both academically and on placement, and knowledge exchange/research.
The university is committed to an inclusive environment which embraces equality and diversity in our working, learning, research, and teaching environment. The social work team takes seriously its commitment to creating a learning environment which is anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive and to foster these attributes in our graduates. We especially welcome applications from Global Majority applicants. We are seeking colleagues who understand equality, diversity, and inclusion, and how these principles can be applied in higher education, and within social work practice settings. We value self-awareness, in terms of understanding of the applicant's own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes, as well as a willingness to challenge practices that present barriers to different groups in social work education.

At Brighton, you'll find a supportive, collaborative and forward-thinking community. We offer generous pension contributions, flexible working hours with opportunities for some remote working, and a comprehensive annual leave package that includes time off over Christmas. We also provide access to the Cycle scheme and discounted sports membership, which includes fitness classes and gym access.
