Context and Overview

On the 1 August 2026, the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent will form a pioneering new multi-university group called London and South-East (LASE) University Group.

The School of Education

The School of Education, a thriving department of around 45 academic staff, continues the teacher training legacy started in 1906 at Avery Hill College. It works in partnership with a broad range of educational settings across London and the South East of England, delivering programs in Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Further Education, along with advanced and professional development at Master's and Doctoral levels.

The School is part of the highly impactful Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich. The Faculty focuses on professional workforce development through extensive professional partnerships.

Embedded in the community with a global outlook, the Faculty fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds and stages of development. Its aim is to transform lives by providing education that equips students with skills and knowledge to make a difference locally and globally, empowering learners to be creative, confident, and critical contributors to society.

Research and Collaboration

Cross-professional collaboration is central, exemplified by the Faculty's (ILD) where professionals from various fields work with researchers and stakeholders from public, charitable, and voluntary organizations to reduce inequalities and promote lifelong health, wellbeing, inclusive education, decent work, and justice. Academic staff participate in one of the seven ILD Research Centres.

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Primary Academic Portfolio Lead, the appointment is on a fixed-term, part-time basis for six months. The successful candidate will join our enthusiastic Primary team, teaching across primary programs, and may contribute to lead mentoring in educational settings.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience of teaching in Primary Schools settings


• Familiarity with our training curriculum


• Good communication skills


• Organized and flexible with workload fluctuations throughout the year
