We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Music to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across our core music curriculum at the North Kensington Centre. You will teach across the following programmes:
UAL Level 2 Music
UAL Level 3 Music
BTEC Level 3 Music
You will plan and deliver engaging, accessible and inclusive learning that responds to students' different starting points, learning needs and aspirations. Using a range of teaching approaches, digital technologies and current industry practice, you will support every student to participate fully and achieve their potential.
You will assess students' work, provide timely and constructive feedback, contribute to internal and external quality-assurance processes, and maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement.
The role also involves providing tutorial, pastoral and progression support; contributing to student recruitment and induction; and working collaboratively with colleagues, including Additional Learning Support, to ensure that students receive appropriate support. You will contribute to the continued development of the music curriculum and to quality-improvement activities that strengthen student engagement, attendance, retention, achievement and progression.
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in music or a closely related discipline, together with an appropriate teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or an equivalent qualification.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
GCSE English and mathematics at grades A-C/9-4, or equivalent qualifications.
Successful experience of planning and delivering high-quality accredited music provision to learners with different backgrounds, abilities and starting points, ideally including learners aged 16-18.
Knowledge of UAL and/or BTEC music qualifications and familiarity with relevant awarding-body requirements.
Current and relevant subject knowledge, together with enthusiasm for music and music education.
The ability to create inclusive, accessible and engaging learning experiences that support students to achieve their individual goals.
Experience of assessing students effectively and providing clear, constructive and timely feedback.
The ability to contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Effective communication, organisational and digital skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students and colleagues.
A clear commitment to safeguarding and to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and professional practice.
We recognise that relevant skills and experience can be gained through different educational and professional routes. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to providing an inclusive recruitment process.
