Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Lecturer with excellent clinical and academic skills to teach across our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy, and Apprenticeship programmes.
These well-established problem based learning (PBL) programmes rank highly for student satisfaction and graduate employment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and creative team, embedding innovative teaching and simulation opportunities, focussing on enhancing the student experience and sharing in the co-creation and delivery of these popular and respected programmes.
Our Lecturers also act as a personal tutor; use listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances, and to refer students as appropriate to the specialist services which can provide further help.

You should be an Occupational Therapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), with a postgraduate qualification who also has experience in clinical supervision. An understanding of principles of learning and teaching is essential with experience in higher education desirable. You should be able to contribute to core areas of the occupational therapy curriculum in a research informed manner.
In order to be successful in this post, you should have:
o Relevant degree in occupational therapy plus a postgraduate MSc, or alternatively a relevant first degree plus a pre-registration MSc in occupational therapy. Candidates with a post-registration MSc nearing completion will be considered.
o Current and active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as an occupational therapist, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months
o A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or a HEA Fellowship is required, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months
o Recent professional activity as an experienced practitioner.
o Up-to-date, sound knowledge of current developments in health and social care including current clinical, professional and policy developments and the range of generic skills required to teach the subject.
o Experience of implementing creative approaches to teaching and learning of contemporary topics in universities and/or in clinical practice.
o Understanding of academic standards and the range and level of knowledge and skills, both subject-specific and generic, which the programme is intended to foster.
It is desirable to have post-graduate qualifications and an active research portfolio. If you have a Doctorate and can supervise at this level, you will have opportunities to develop as the university has an active programme for supporting early career researchers. Occupational therapy clinical experience in any area of practice is desirable, and the successful candidate will also be educating students through PBL pedagogy across the full curriculum.
This post is 0.6 full-time equivalent, fixed term role for 12 months. We welcome applications from candidates seeking to explore a career in Higher Education. It is planned that interviews will take place the week beginning 27th July 2026.
