Full Job Description

As a Lecturer in the Production Department, the successful candidate will be joining a team of around 15 other academics and will be teaching and marking across Sports Journalism, Journalism and Media Production modules, including theory and practice, across all levels of study. Our Journalism courses are BJTC accredited so you will be working with the team to fulfil our commitments to this accreditation. The successful candidate will be developing their research and professional practice, taking active part in Department meetings and other University activities and helping organise activities such as student trips, industry events, and award ceremonies. You will be reporting to the Associate Head of School for Production, who leads the Production Department.

The successful candidate will have industry experience working in sports journalism, preferably within broadcast sports journalism. Ideally, they will also have some ability to teach across other media production disciplines such as film, television and podcasting, and have a good understanding of production workflows and procedures. They will already have teaching experience, preferably within HE, and have a compassionate approach to student learning. The successful candidate is expected to have exemplary communication skills, written and verbal.
It is important that candidates have a strong understanding of media law and ethics, and an awareness of and willingness to engage in and deliver in a multiplatform context, including Radio, Magazine, Podcasting, Television and other emerging and established digital platforms.

With the expansion of our BJTC-accredited undergraduate programmes in journalism, sports journalism and across broadcast media, we're looking to recruit a journalist/news producer with relevant teaching experience.
