Lecturer in Interior Design & Architecture

Watford, Hertfordshire

From £18,495.65 - £22,517.63

Permanent

West Herts College

The School of Art and Design is looking for an enthusiastic, industry-experienced, and highly motivated lecturer to join our Interior Design and Architecture teaching team.

Working closely with our students, stakeholders, and local/national employers, you will strive for continuous improvement and higher standards for the benefit of the whole community. We aim to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well.

We are currently recruiting for a part-time position working 22 hours per week. However, depending on student numbers at enrolment, there may be additional hours available.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong contemporary design skills to contribute to our large, flagship course. You will deliver both industry-relevant skills and knowledge to our learners.

Knowledge of contemporary design software is essential, as you will play a key role in leading CAD delivery across the course.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  • SketchUp
  • Enscape (or similar)
  • Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Digital visualisation

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:

  • Subject-specific animation techniques
  • Blender
  • VR
  • AI

The successful candidate will be positive, enthusiastic, resilient, and proactive in seeking development opportunities for both themselves and the course. You will demonstrate an adaptive and flexible teaching style to support and stretch a diverse range of learners.

Teaching experience and relevant qualifications are desirable; however, we are keen to hear from candidates with strong industry experience who are willing to engage in professional development.

It is essential that our courses reflect current industry practices, and you will play a key role in driving curriculum development to ensure it remains relevant. You will also be expected to provide prompt, accurate, and detailed assessment of student work at key points throughout the academic year.

The closing date for applications is 5th May 2026

You will have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role. Training and development are at the heart of everything we do, and you will be encouraged to upskill.

We offer a range of staff benefits including a free on-site gym at our Watford Campus, cycle to work scheme, free parking, pension, generous holiday entitlement, time off at Christmas, and early finishes on a Friday.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Human Resources team who will be happy to help. WHC Group is positive about disabled people. If you need support with your application, please contact us.
