Full Job Description

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality and research-led teaching within the Department of History. They will have a track record of teaching history at undergraduate level and will take up the post on 1st September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed-term Pathway 3 Grade J role at 0.7 FTE, providing maternity cover from 1st September 2026 to 31st July 2027. What will you be doing? The successful candidate will be actively engaged in scholarship in Imperial History and will have experience of research-led teaching in this field. They will be expected to contribute to the provision of team-taught units reflecting this field of research. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate dissertations, to act as personal tutor, to undertake other teaching and administrative duties as appropriate, and to remain engaged in scholarship to support research-led teaching.   • You have completed a PhD in history by the end of August 2026.
  • You may have a track record in research publication.
  • You have a proven track record in the teaching of history at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and potentially also of teaching other units related to your specialism.
  • You have completed an HEA-accredited teaching qualification or have clear plans to do so.
  • You have demonstrated clear potential to achieve excellence in delivering research-led and research-informed teaching in your field.
