Weston College is expanding their advanced engineering provision and are seeking an experienced CNC programming professional to join our team as a Lecturer in Engineering - CNC. This is a rare opportunity to take your industry expertise into our brand-new campus, the Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College (AMTEC) in Filton, Bristol. You do not need teaching experience for this role; Weston College will fully train and support you to become a qualified lecturer. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week. About the role As a Lecturer in Engineering - CNC, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical education to apprentices and full-time learners, ensuring they develop the skills, behaviours and professional standards needed in modern engineering environments. You will:
- Teach practical and theory-based CNC sessions, including programming, tooling, machining and simulations.
- Bring real-world engineering knowledge into the classroom, connecting learning to actual industry practice.
- Support students pastorally and academically, helping them build confidence and technical competence.
- Contribute to the development of high-quality programmes linked directly to employer need.
- Provide guidance on progression into employment, apprenticeships or higher-level study. You will typically work with small groups (around 15 learners) and a supportive team of lecturers, technicians and specialist staff.
- Significant CNC experience, including machining, programming, diagnosing faults, setting tooling, and working with modern CNC technologies.
- A commitment to transferring your industry knowledge into a teaching environment.
- High professional standards and the ability to model workplace behaviours for learners. You do not need:
- A teaching qualification
- Classroom experience
- Prior understanding of Further Education frameworks
