Full Job Description

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, creative and industry-informed teaching across our Level 3 Design provision. This is a broad and exciting area of the curriculum, supporting students to explore how design is used across the creative industries and how ideas are developed into purposeful, professional outcomes.

Design within our provision may include graphic design, concept art, product design, set design, visual communication, illustration, design for screen, design for performance and design for creative industry contexts. We are looking for someone who can support students to think creatively, respond to briefs, generate and refine ideas, experiment with materials and digital processes, and develop ambitious design outcomes.

You will help learners build confidence in the full design process, from research and idea generation through to development, presentation and evaluation. Students will be supported to develop strong portfolios, visual communication skills and professional behaviours that prepare them for progression into higher education, employment or the wider creative industries.

This role would suit an experienced lecturer who is ready to bring current practice into the classroom. We are particularly interested in applicants with broad design experience and the ability to teach across more than one design discipline. You may come from a background in graphic design, concept art, product design, set design, illustration or another relevant creative specialism.

You will work closely with the wider Creative Industries team to deliver an engaging and inclusive student experience. You will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, learner feedback and the continued development of design within our Level 3 offer.

We have four main sites across the city with state-of-the-art facilities. Further future investment in our estates is now allowing us to provide the best possible outcomes for our students and local communities, delivered by our fantastic community of colleagues.

At City of Bristol College, we have one goal: to help our students succeed. We offer the widest range of academic and vocational qualifications in the area, with more than 1,000 courses available from entry to degree level and we provide education and training to approximately 10,000 students each year.
