Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Centre for Medical Education, providing professional academic support within our busy MSc programmes. This Lecturer role provides academic support for the MSc Genetic & Genomic Counselling, working closely with staff, students and stakeholders.

The School of Medicine provides a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate education that directly improves health outcomes and healthcare for patients and families. This includes the MSc Genetic & Genomic Counselling, an innovative, part-time blended learning programme that trains students in the clinical application of human genetics and genomics alongside counselling and communication skills so that they can provide and critically evaluate genetic and genomic counselling services.

The part-time post will be based in the Centre for Medical Education, School of Medicine at Cardiff University (Heath Park). The hours of the post are 7 hours per week, though the post-holder will need to work flexibly to provide in-person teaching on multiple days per week during intensive teaching blocks delivered at Heath Park site, alongside assessment, administrative, supervisory and personal tutoring activities throughout the year.

We have a dynamic, collaborative and forward-looking culture and we are recognised for our excellence in learning, teaching and research. We encourage critical thinking and reflection, valuing freedom of thought and intellectual curiosity from our staff and students.

We pride ourselves in providing a stimulating and highly supportive environment and encourage staff to pursue both personal and professional development. Working for us offers an opportunity to be part of one of the UK's leading universities for healthcare education with innovative and impactful programmes and research.

Candidates should have a postgraduate degree at PhD level, or equivalent experience in the delivery of high-quality counselling services and a good teaching track record and a passion for student-focussed innovative counselling skills education.
