Are you a passionate and experienced humanistic counsellor or psychotherapist looking to inspire the next generation of practitioners? We're seeking a registered/accredited humanistic counsellor or psychotherapist with experience of teaching in this or a related field and with considerable clinical experience and an interest in practice research. In this permanent, part-time (0.4 fte, 2 days per week: Wednesday and Thursday) position within our dynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy team at the University of Brighton you'll be joining a collaborative team of eight experienced professionals who teach across a range of modules and approaches, and we value respectful dialogue between them.
We run two courses: BACP-accredited Postgraduate Diplomas in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Humanistic and Psychodynamic) and a UKCP-accredited MSc in Psychotherapy. You will need to play a key role in shaping our students' learning experience through: Delivering engaging lectures and seminars; marking and other assessment; scrutinising student portfolios; supervising research projects, selection and interviewing applicants to our courses; and support with the planning and developing of modules.
Where possible, we aim to align your responsibilities with your strengths and interests, ensuring a fulfilling and balanced role.
We're looking for a colleague who has:
- o A postgraduate qualification or an equivalent level of professional experience in psychotherapy
- o Professional accreditation/registration with UKCP or Accreditation with BACP
- o Previous teaching experience of counselling and psychotherapy at postgraduate level or extensive relevant experience
- o A deep understanding of, and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in both academic and practice learning settings
In your new role you should demonstrate self-awareness in terms of understanding candidates' own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes, and be ready to challenge barriers and support inclusive learning environments.
Why Join Us?
At Brighton, you'll find a supportive and forward-thinking academic community. We offer a generous annual leave package, travel loan schemes and a range of other benefits.
