Full Job Description
Undertake teaching activities in the curriculum area, ensuring high quality of provision in response to learners' needs and in line with Professional Teaching Standards.
Provide relevant information for Exam Access Arrangements.
Be responsible for an agreed teaching programme in A-Level Chemistry and other related areas.
Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback, and record learners' progress on ProMarkbook.
Ensure each student is provided with a log to record NEA practicals with required risk assessments, plans, records, and evaluations.
Ensure timely completion of all NEA by each student, recording all NEA and associated skills on the centralised log.
Create SMART targets, record them on ProMonitor, and monitor progress, implementing positive interventions as needed.
Record predicted grades three times per year, or as required, on OneGrade.
Ensure timely completion of registers and recording of student absence and behaviours on ProMonitor.
Develop course materials, schemes of work, and a Google classroom as required, making them available prior to course starting dates.
Ensure all practicals are completed safely, complying with CLEAPSS and college risk assessments.
Work closely with the department's laboratory technician to ensure timely availability of equipment and consumables for all practicals and demonstrations.
Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are followed and assist in maintaining high standards of Health and Safety.
Contribute fully to the coordination, development, promotion, and delivery of courses offered by the College.
Attend staff meetings, meetings with exam board practical auditors, parents' evenings, industry updating/staff development, and training events as required.
Maintain records of work and student attendance, progress, and assessment in accordance with approved procedures.
Undertake assessment and cross-marking activities in accordance with awarding body requirements and College internal quality assurance procedures.
Ensure Information Learning Technology (ILT) is used to create an efficient and effective working and learning environment.
Embed within all learning activities the opportunity to improve students' English and/or maths.
Carry out work scrutiny and cross-check marking in line with quality assurance processes.
Assist in sourcing guest speakers for work experience and work-related learning.
Work collaboratively and innovatively with managers and colleagues to design, develop, manage, and review programme delivery in the curriculum area.
