Full Job Description

Do you have a passion for hospitality and catering and want to inspire the next generation? Whether you're already working in education and looking for your next role, or if you're working in industry and looking to change your career path, we have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to join our Catering curriculum team in readiness for the start of the 2026/27 academic year, with an aimed start date of 19 August 2026. Sharing your knowledge to unlock potential whilst guiding our learners through their studies, you'll work as part of the curriculum team to create and deliver lessons across a range of qualification levels, inspiring achievement and the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will be a team player, an excellent communicator, and able to maintain a proactive approach to managing deadlines, whilst retaining a high standard of delivery. We are seeking a passionate and industry-experienced Lecturer in Catering to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across a range of hospitality and catering programmes. This role offers the opportunity to develop learners' culinary skills, creativity, and understanding of professional kitchen practices within a realistic working environment. The successful candidate will plan and deliver effective lessons, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and progression. With a strong knowledge of current food trends, health and safety standards, and customer service expectations, you will help prepare learners for successful careers in the hospitality and catering industry while contributing to curriculum development and maintaining excellent standards of teaching and learning.

North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted 'Good' provider, with 'Outstanding' learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent (Dartford, Gravesend, Hadlow and Tonbridge) and over 6,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners' experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

In addition to a competitive salary, you can expect the following as a Lecturer at NKC:

  • 42 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays (pro rata for part-time contracts).
  • Enrolment onto the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS), one of the most generous in the country.
  • Access to free parking and a number of onsite facilities, including gyms, restaurants and coffee shops.
  • CPD and support from our in-house Teaching & Learning team, who coach, train, and guide our Lecturers through their teaching journey, from unqualified and new to teaching to qualified and experienced.
