Full Job Description

Are you an exceptional architectural educator who can help students connect ambitious design thinking with technical resolution, building adaptation and the realities of contemporary architectural practice?, The University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Architecture to join a dynamic and ambitious architecture team.

We are looking for an outstanding educator with expertise in architectural design, technical design development, building adaptation, retrofit or related fields, who can help students develop imaginative and critically informed architectural proposals that are both ambitious and technically robust.

You will contribute across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through design studio teaching, curriculum development, assessment and academic support. Working within a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, you will enable students to integrate spatial, material, technical, environmental and social considerations within coherent design proposals and develop an understanding of how architectural ideas are translated into buildable and adaptable interventions.

As the School continues to strengthen its Architecture provision and develop new opportunities in Interior Architecture, you will contribute to a forward-looking educational environment committed to design excellence, technical literacy and responsible stewardship of the built environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering high-quality design studio teaching, tutorials and assessment across Architecture programmes.

Guiding students in developing creative, technically informed and environmentally responsible design proposals.

Supporting the integration of technical design development, material understanding and building adaptation within architectural education.

Contributing to curriculum development, module leadership and enhancement activities.

Engaging in scholarly, professional or knowledge-exchange activity that strengthens teaching and maintains contemporary relevance.
