Full Job Description

You'll plan and deliver engaging lessons that bring learning to life-combining theory with hands-on experience in our excellent animal management facilities. You'll guide students to achieve their best, supporting them to gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed for further study or employment in the sector. Working closely with a dedicated team of animal care professionals, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, share good practice, and continuously improve the student experience.

You'll bring:

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience in Animal Science, Applied Zoology or a background teaching Secondary Science, although we are open to other specialisms.
  • A teaching qualification (or willingness to gain one with our full support).
  • Industry experience and up-to-date specialist knowledge in animal studies.
  • A genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.

At Plumpton College, we're proud to be shaping the future of land and environment education. As a Lecturer in Animal Studies, you'll play a key role in inspiring students to develop their passion for animal welfare, husbandry, and science into successful, meaningful careers.

At Plumpton College, we live our values-Ambitious, Professional, Enterprising, Passionate, Supportive, and Progressive-in everything we do. You'll benefit from:
  • We offer a competitive salary alongside a generous benefits package, including up to 37 days' annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata), and up to 5 efficiency days at Christmas. Staff are enrolled in the Teacher's Pension Scheme and have access to comprehensive CPD opportunities and in-house teacher training where applicable. As a Disability Confident Committed employer and a signatory of the Menopause Pledge, we are proud to foster an inclusive and supportive workplace. New colleagues benefit from a structured induction and a supported six-month probationary period, as well as a strong coaching culture with in-house L5 trained coaches. Employees also enjoy a range of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits such as eligibility for a TOTUM card and Blue Light Card, free eye tests, free use of our onsite gym, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted Plumpton wine and courses, free onsite parking, and an Employee Assistance Programme. Our commitment to staff wellbeing and community is further demonstrated through regular networking events, active EDI and Sustainability committees and social events at Christmas. If you're ready to inspire others through your knowledge and enthusiasm for animal welfare and education, we'd love to hear from you.
