Full Job Description
The Animal Care department is based at Coleg Glynllifon in a newly refurbished building with a wide range of animals available to study. Students follow full-time courses at levels 1, 2 and 3 with the possibility of completing an apprenticeship with a suitable employer. Students enter the world of work with employers involved in the area of animal husbandry, animal care, recreation, animal protection or sale of goods associated with animal care. Many students progress to University where they study at a higher level by completing a degree.
The Animal Management lecturer will be a course leader with pastoral responsibility for students and that relevant standards are met as specified by the examining board. Welsh Baccalaureate qualifications are a central part of the curriculum within Landbased, this post will involve an element of delivering and coordination to ensure the WBQ is consistently delivered across the programme area.
The curriculum is set by the qualification awarding body. The lecturer will be required to develop relevant sessions to ensure students have a good learning experience and that unit objectives are taught effectively. Students will receive practical instruction during the course and these will need to be co-ordinated with the relevant instructors to reinforce understanding of the classroom sessions.
The industry in the college's catchment area is mixed in nature with agricultural, companion animals and tourism being major elements. The department therefore covers a variety of animal types including Companion animals, Exotic, Birds, Aquatic and Commercial Farm Animals.
Salary: £33,595 - £51,931 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience
