What makes a learner excited to come to class? A subject brought to life. Real stories from the workplace. Someone who is passionate about their profession and wants to see them succeed. We're looking for professionals with experience in Health & Social Care who can bring their subject to life and show learners how their studies connect to the world of work. Your knowledge and enthusiasm could help students discover their potential, stay engaged with their learning and take their next steps towards a rewarding career. Whether you're an experienced lecturer or a professional looking to try something new, this is an opportunity to share your expertise and make a difference to learners' futures, alongside your existing professional commitments. Join Us at an Exciting Time Stanmore College is undergoing a £60 million redevelopment, creating a modern, sustainable campus with new teaching spaces and facilities for our students. With the new campus taking shape, this is an exciting time to join us and be part of the College's next chapter. Our Health & Social Care provision prepares learners for careers that make a real difference to people's lives. With new teaching spaces and facilities, you'll have more opportunities to bring your industry experience into the classroom, develop practical and relevant learning activities, and help students build the skills they need for their future careers. The Role As a Variable Hours Lecturer, you will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across relevant Health & Social Care and Early Years programmes.
- Plan and adapt engaging lessons, resources and assessment materials to meet the needs of learners.
- Support learners to make progress, achieve their qualifications and develop the skills and knowledge needed for further study or employment.
- Maintain accurate course and assessment records and contribute to quality assurance, standardisation and verification processes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the review and improvement of programmes.
- Keep your professional knowledge and skills up to date and bring current industry or professional practice into your teaching.
- Support learners to understand how their studies relate to professional practice and future careers.
- Participate in learner inductions, course reviews, team meetings and relevant College activities.
- Contribute to recruitment, promotional and open-day activities where required.
- Support a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment and uphold the College's safeguarding, equality, diversity and health and safety responsibilities. Why This Role Matters? The right insight or encouragement can change how a learner sees their future. By sharing your professional experience, you'll help students understand what their chosen career involves, recognise their own potential and develop the skills to take their next steps. Variable-hours teaching also offers an opportunity to share your expertise without necessarily leaving your current profession, whether you're an experienced teacher or an industry professional interested in developing your teaching experience.
You'll be passionate about your area of expertise and keen to share your knowledge in a way that engages learners and supports their progress. You'll care about their learning and achievement, using real-world examples and your professional experience to bring the subject to life and help students see how their studies relate to their future careers. Whether you have teaching experience or are looking to take your first step into education, you'll be committed to helping learners succeed. Relevant professional knowledge and experience are essential, and you'll be willing to develop your teaching practice to provide the best possible learning.
