Full Job Description

The Learning Support Staff role at Carrington Infant School is a varied and rewarding position focused on supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing, and inclusion within a nurturing school environment. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality support by assisting with the planning and implementation of adapted learning activities and interventions. You will help pupils access a broad and balanced curriculum, encouraging their participation in both classroom and wider school activities. The role involves observing and monitoring pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers, and maintaining accurate records using school systems. You will contribute to a positive school culture by modelling the school's seven professional behaviours: being professional, respectful, collaborative, proactive, committed, responsible, and ambitious. Strong teamwork is essential, as you will work closely with teachers, colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the right support. You will also supervise children during various parts of the school day, including in lessons, at playtimes, lunchtimes, during assemblies, and on educational visits. The role may include supporting pupils with personal care, including hygiene, changing, and first aid needs, ensuring their safety and dignity at all times. You will also take responsibility for safeguarding by reporting any concerns and attending required training. A commitment to ongoing professional development is expected, with opportunities to build skills and knowledge through training and appraisal. Overall, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in children's early education within a supportive and collaborative team.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths
  • Childcare qualification equivalent of a minimum level 2
  • Experience of working with children in a school or childcare setting
