Full Job Description

Do you have experience supporting children and young people with SEND and their families? Are you passionate about creating truly inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive? Are you ready to take the next step in your career and lead meaningful change within an award-winning FE college, joining a supportive and ambitious team at a pivotal time of transformation?, We are looking for positive, resilient, and forward-thinking individuals with:

  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation
  • Experience working with young people with SEND
  • A proven ability to lead and support teams through change
  • You will bring demonstrable experience of:
  • Implementing effective processes and practices to meet statutory requirements, including the Children & Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015
  • Driving improvements that promote inclusion and positive outcomes for students with a wide range of learning needs
  • Leading teams to deliver high-quality, consistent support across a complex environment
  • While experience within FE or the post-16 sector would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience across a variety of educational or support settings.

The Learning Support Department at North Kent College is undergoing an exciting transformation to enhance the support we provide to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs). In response to the evolving SEND landscape and government reforms, we are creating four new Learning Support Manager roles across our campuses in Dartford, Gravesend, Hadlow and Tonbridge. These roles offer a unique opportunity to shape and lead high-quality, inclusive support services that have a direct and lasting impact on learners' lives., North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted 'Good' provider, with 'Outstanding' learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent (Dartford, Gravesend, Hadlow and Tonbridge) and over 6,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners' experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

In addition to a competitive salary, you can expect the following as Learning Support Manager at NKC:
  • 33 days' annual leave (including Christmas / New Year break) plus bank holidays (full time equivalent).
  • Enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which includes generous employee/employer contribution rates.
  • Access to free parking and a number of onsite facilities, including gyms, restaurants and coffee shops.
  • CPD days and access to several discount memberships through being an employee at a College.
