Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a patient, calm and empathetic individual to join us in providing one-to-one personal care and support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This role involves meeting the pupil's physical, emotional, and educational needs in a respectful and dignified way. Responsibilities include assisting with physiotherapy, feeding, and communication, working closely with teaching staff and professionals to support the pupil's full inclusion and participation in school life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and be part of the supportive Aspire@Hanley team.

We are looking for someone with experience working with young people and supporting pupils with EHCPs. The successful candidate will also be willing to develop new skills and undertake necessary training to support the student, including training on using a hoist and eye gaze technology. Experience working with children who have complex physical and communication needs would be beneficial but is not essential.

Hanley Castle is a dynamic and pleasantly situated high performing Academy, which is justifiably proud of its local and national reputation for academic excellence. Founded in 1326, the school provides a unique blend of academic rigour, modern facilities and traditional values. The school is heavily oversubscribed and our Sixth Form is flourishing. Hanley Castle High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and as such expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Online searches are now undertaken on all shortlisted candidates, for safeguarding suitability, as part of the due diligence. References are obtained, before interview wherever possible, which include specific enquiries about the applicant's background in relation to safeguarding.

Working hours: 27.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:15pm). Term-time only plus 8 training days. Salary: The salary is in accordance with TA3 (SCP7-17). Please note, unless for an exceptional candidate who meets all aspects of the person specification, the post will be offered at the bottom of the scale, TA3 SCP7. A salary increment is given annually. The salary is pro-rated to £16,856 for 27.5 hours per week (TA3 SCP7). Terms: This post is fixed-term and linked to the support needs of a named pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The contract will be for the duration of the pupil's placement at the school and will end when the pupil leaves or no longer requires this support. Start date: As soon as possible.,
