Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join Landau. This role is about making a real difference - supporting young people who may have faced challenges to achieve, progress and build brighter futures.
As an LSA, you will provide high-quality learning support, mentoring and intervention to individuals and small groups, including learners with disabilities, those who are disadvantaged and those disengaged from education. Your aim is to ensure every learner participates, achieves and progresses in their programme., Support and mentor learners (on and off-site) in line with programme requirements and tutor direction
Work with tutors to identify additional support needs and tailor activities and materials
Provide targeted support to help learners develop knowledge, skills, confidence and independence
Identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate strategies
Support assessments, learner portfolios, feedback, progress reviews and administration
Promote positive behaviour management in line with policies
Contribute creative ideas to engage learners and overcome barriers
Provide pastoral support, information, advice and guidance
Support learners to achieve qualifications, complete portfolios and meet personal development goals
Assist with medical needs where required
Keep tutors and managers informed of learner progress and liaise with parents/stakeholders where appropriate
Support work experience placements and enrichment activities
Provide support for learners with SEND or EHCPs, ensuring health, safety and wellbeing
Act as key worker for identified learners, promoting engagement, attendance and achievement
Monitor safeguarding, wellbeing and adherence to EHCP requirements
Provide flexible support across the organisation as required
Other Duties
Attend team and departmental meetings
Transport learners to activities using public transport, own vehicle or Landau vehicles
Act as an ambassador for the charity
Provide management information and support to staff and the CEO
Undertake additional duties within salary scale where required
Suitable qualification in teaching, mentoring or learning support - E
Maths and English at level 2 minimum - E
L3 or Degree qualifications or equivalent in a relevant subject - D
Experience
Experience of supporting learners with SEMH and SEN - particularly in functional skills and employability skills- E
Experience working with learners who have issues with anxiety, confidence or who are overcoming disadvantages - E
Experiencing of meeting the requirements of learners with Education, Health and Care Plans - D
Experience planning preparing or adapting resources to meet learner need - E
Safeguarding and/or First Aid training or willingness to train- D
Skills and Attributes
Creative and innovative, able to devise practical approaches that will interest and motivate learners - E
Good IT skills and ability to undertake essential administrative or reporting tasks - E
Personal qualities, communicating and relating to others
Strong commitment to supporting all learners - E
Excellent organisational skills, time-keeping and reliability - E

Ability to plan, risk assess and supervise off-site activity, such as visits or work experience placements - E
