Full Job Description
Looking for a career where every day brings the opportunity to change a life? At Longdon Hall School, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is much more than a classroom support role-it's your chance to help children and young people with additional needs build confidence, develop independence and achieve things they never thought possible. Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a calm, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every pupil feels safe, valued and inspired to succeed. Whether you're celebrating a breakthrough moment in the classroom or helping a pupil overcome barriers to learning, your support will have a lasting impact every single day. Whether you already have experience in specialist education or you're looking to bring your skills from care, retail, hospitality, youth work or another people-focused role, we'll provide the training, support and development to help you build a rewarding career in education. What You'll Do:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning that inspires confidence and curiosity.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
- Prepare learning resources and help create stimulating, inclusive classroom environments.
- Encourage pupils' independence, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.
- Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school life.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider school team to achieve the very best outcomes for every pupil.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour at all times.
We're looking for someone who: - Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
- Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Is caring, patient and passionate about helping children and young people succeed.
- Can build positive relationships and remain calm, resilient and encouraging, even in challenging situations.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team and is eager to learn and develop.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Experience in an SEN or ASC setting is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from people with backgrounds in care, hospitality, retail, youth work, leisure or other customer-focused roles who are looking for a rewarding career where they can make a genuine difference every day.
