Join the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, W14 8BZ, as a Learning Support Assistant. Hours: 30 hours a week, 39 weeks a year Salary: £22,519.29 Start Date: 1st September 2026 Contract: Fixed term Are you passionate about supporting young people and committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential? The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. About Us The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School is a highly successful and oversubscribed Roman Catholic comprehensive school for boys, with a pan-London intake and mixed Sixth Form. Conveniently located halfway between Shepherd's Bush and Holland Park tube stations, the Vaughan is situated within the leafy surroundings of London's Holland Park area and is within easy walking distance of Westfield shopping centre and nearby Notting Hill. Both stations are served by the Central Line, with Shepherd's Bush Overground also running trains to Clapham Junction every ten minutes. The school is part of the Saint John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust, which promotes a collaborative environment, founded on Catholic Social Teaching and the principles of solidarity and subsidiarity, ensuring all pupils are supported to grow and succeed. What We Are Looking For This is a rewarding role supporting pupils across the school, particularly those with additional needs. We are seeking an individual who:
- Has experience supporting children's learning or wellbeing
- Has a strong understanding of child development and effective learning strategies
- Is able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff and work effectively as part of a team
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Is proactive, patient and able to motivate and encourage pupils to succeed
- Has effective behaviour management skills
- Is organised and able to support the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Has a genuine passion for education and making a difference in young people's lives The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans or additional needs
- Work alongside teachers and the Special Educational Needs Team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Assist in planning, monitoring and reviewing individual pupil progress
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence in learning
- Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes and examinations where required
- Help maintain accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing
- Promote high standards of behaviour, wellbeing and safety across the school What We Offer
